Urban Living – a Luxembourgian concept

Luxembourg is self-confident with a high level of life as the world’s number one concerning security and quality of life! Cultural openness and human dimensions represent these values!

Luxembourg City impresses with its contemporary appearance – despite the historical UNESCO world heritage site. The Philharmonie is a masterpiece of Christian de Portzamparc, the museum of modern art MUDAM, a work from Ieoh Ming Pei, bank palaces from Richard Meier, Gottfried Böhm, Arquitectonia and many more. The “Gold Ingot” from Dominique Perrault dominates the skyline of Luxembourg – a symbol for Luxembourg being an important place of European institutions. Furthermore the city offers many extensive parks in the style of English Gardens from Eduard André (XIX century) or contemporary parks from Peter Latz & Partner or Michel Desvignes.

The rugged city zone has always been a challenge for the urban planner. Luxembourg is the city of 100 bridges! It was Johann Wolfgang von Goethe who fell into rapture and who was impressed by the low and high and old and new parts of town.

Architecture represents the soul of the citizens: the modern art centers play in the first league concerning world premiers of music, opera and dance. A very international population with EU-functionaries and bankers live and enjoy their city. Design boutiques, highest density of world-known brands in the city center, rich museums where contemporary architecture is combined with rich collections, exquisite clubs and lounges, old-town-atmosphere, design hotels and antiques trade shows characterize this metropolis. As a Mecca for gourmets Luxembourg fascinates with international first class gastronomy.

The University City Esch-Alzette presents itself young and pert! The campus in Esch-Belval is one of the most modern ones in Europe! Artistic works, alternative art in the “Kulturfabrik”, the longest shopping-street in the country, cafés and restaurants, an exceptional cultural heritage from historism to postmodernism – all these characteristics determine the second largest city in Luxembourg. Dudelange in the south of the country has become an important center for art photography. Ettelbruck is a great shopping destination in the north of the Grand-Duchy.
